Welcome to ULSSIS (Pronounced Ulysses!)

ULSSIS is in planning as a multi-university Industry/University Collaborative Research Center (I/UCRC) for Ultra-Large-Scale Software-Intensive Systems, sponsored and underwritten by the U.S. National Science Foundation. We will bring together industry and government agencies from the U.S. and around the work with and top researchers from top programs to address fundamental problems in software and computation for complex engineering systems. ULSSIS is led by the University of Virginia with sites at the University of California San Diego, the Vanderbilt University, and Michigan State University.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help improve the long-term well-being of people and our society through research in software and computing for complex engineering systems: in health care, energy, environment, agriculture, transportation, commerce, defense, the computer industry, and beyond.

ULSSIS Research Focus

Our research areas currently include new language and design paradigms; software and system modeling, synthesis, and analysis; design economics; trustworthy computing; software for new platforms (such as sensor networks); and sentient software-intensive engineering systems.

If your organization is not yet involved, we invite you to consider joining us.
